A Few Mathematical Tasks I've Used in Recent Workshops
Multiple Representations and SMP1
Great task to use with K-8 staff to illustrate the "5 Practices" and to "Use and Connect Mutliple Representations"
|
Estimation
Lots of uses for all of Andrew's Estimation180 tasks, but they also make great "warm-ups" in any workshop for K-12
|
Multiple Representations and SMP2Just about any task from van de Walle is a winner...we've had success with multiple representations and discourse at K-5 with this several times
|
Access and Equity
All of Jo Boaler's tasks with their low floor and high ceiling, but this in particular helps K-8 teachers "view expressions as objects"
|
Discourse & Representations
Graham Fletcher's Cookie Monster task has proven successful for using discourse as a link to "connect representations".
|
The RP Progression
Pinnacle task starts with a notice/wonder and then leads to the link between Proportional Relationships and Trigonometric Ratios
